Kaleiçi Old Town Festival Returns This October for Its 10th Edition
Antalya’s historic city center, Kaleiçi – a place where traces of the past blend with the rhythm of today – is opening its doors to world cities for the 10th time. Organized by Muratpaşa Municipality, the Kaleiçi Old Town Festival will be held between October 9–12.

With its narrow intersecting streets, traditional houses, and windows hidden behind bougainvilleas, Kaleiçi awakens a sense of discovery in its visitors. This historic district of Antalya offers glimpses of human history along its many paths and brings together unique examples of world cuisine.

In 1984, Kaleiçi was awarded the Golden Apple, also known as the "Oscar of World Tourism", by the International Federation of Travel Journalists and Writers (FIJET). However, over the years, it lost its vitality due to shifting global tourism trends and a general lack of interest.

In response, Muratpaşa Municipality launched an initiative in 2014 focused on Kaleiçi, aiming to promote a form of tourism that is integrated with local tradespeople, spreads throughout the city, and is driven by the spirit of discovering new places, cultures, and people.

Mayor Ümit Uysal stated that through meetings with local shopkeepers and collaborations with various institutions, Kaleiçi has now become an area where tourism continues year-round. Emphasizing that Kaleiçi has evolved into a true urban vision, Uysal announced that the 10th edition of the festival will take place from October 9 to 12. This year, 43 cities from 32 countries have been invited to the festival, including cities from around the world such as Prague, Szigetvár, Radom, and Comrat.
